Silkie thread!

So my older silkies don't have any combs or wattles, and they are over 3 months old. Is it safe to say they are girlies?

My younger ones will be 3 months the middle of this month, some are starting to get small combs, but I haven't noticed anything else yet.

I think the cutoff date is 6 months. Keep your fingers crossed!

Good morning! I am hoping there are a few of you silkie gender experts out there that could give us a clue as to this little cutie! Just a little 14-15 week old hatchery pet/love of my 6 year old daughter's life...and we're just so curious! We've been told boy by some, girl by others...behavior of this little cutie is super timid and shy. We'll often find it snuggled up with it's head under a buddy's wing.

This looks like a girl, but if that is a reddish cast to in the comb, I'd say boy. Much nicer than most hatchery silkies.

Are non bearded silkies the ones that you can see their faces and the bearded ones are extra fluffy and have a hard time seeing? I think I under stand but I'm not quiet sure.

yeah bearded chicks will have puffy cheeks and beards, non bearded will look like normal chicks.

I would guess yours are bearded. There is a lot of fluff under their eyes that is not present on regular chicks or non-bearded Silkies. Did you get two Sizzles? Not real sure on colors - my guess would be a white and two blues - or a splash and two blues... The white/splash one looks to have silkied feathers.

it might seem more frizzled in the pic but in person I thought I had 2 silkies and 1 sizzle. but who knows lol. I was somewhat hoping for non bearded because I like to see their eyes.

I prefer seeing their eyes too and I'm sure the birds are happier that way
