I just got the business page working so it's set up now. https://www.facebook.com/PntdFthrsFrm
I've liked it and shared :) Looking forward to seeing more! Looks like you have really expanded!
When I am working on a project (and in this case, for you partridge IS a project) I always let the birds grow out as much as possible; you can always let a bird go...getting one back is not so easy. Of course taking care of htem and feeding them all is not that easy, either, lol!

While single combs aren't desirable, they would be less of an issue to correct than say poorly shaped combs or poorer type. It is always a balancing act with projects.
The silkies are easy to care for :) I'll cut back late September and the rest can wait until next spring.

Yes I figured it wouldn't be too tough to breed out if she had good type. She does seem to be good in type so far.. but they are only 8 and 10 weeks, so really how much can you judge them? :)

I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first silkie to fool me. Some are really hard to tell from photos especially.Your silkie just looks like a roo. The boys usually get taller, lankier looking. Something about the tail just looks more like a boy. He still looks young and has a lot more filling out to go. Looks like a nice silkie boy, (or girl, if I'm wrong). The girls usually are shorter, rounder looking. You will know for sure if he gets the long streamer feathers coming off the back of his head. Either way, it still looks like you have a nice bird.
Thank you. It sure is clucking like my hens. Would a cockeral make noise like that too? I have not heard a crow.

This is my little 8-9 week old girl (I think girl, her crest was super round I cut it so she could see). Her name is Taco, I am a new chicken owner and she is my only Silkie all my other babies are an assortment of layer breeds. She's really laid back and still getting use to the flock. I don't know if she is show quality but I think she is pretty and the breeder who sold her to me said she is "breed" quality whatever that means.
