Silkie thread!

Sounds like she has a deformity. Can you get a picture of her bum and where her vent is located? If she does have a deformity, hopefully she is NOT a female because she most likely could have trouble trying to lay eggs.

Bathe her with a flea/tick shampoo. The poop sticking to her feathers could be due to lice eggs. After she is clean and dry, dust her bottom with talcum powder. That will also help prevent sticking. Add probiotics and grains such as wheat, rice and oats to her diet, and acv to her water. This will firm up her poop. Her ttail will likely grow as she gets older. She is still a baby at 4 months. I would guess that she is from slow maturing line.

I'll get some flea shampoo and talcum powder this weekend. [Had something else here, but it's no longer relevant, so nevermind. :) ] How much wheat/rice/oats does she need? Is that something I could just pull her out of the coop and feed her once a day or something?

Hi. I was reading this thread and was wondering what acv is? I have a white Silkie girl that has a loose stool. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the heat but I don't like her having it.

Jazz, one of my blues, crowed today, much to Tails the cochin cockerel's irritation. They're both about three months old, like a week apart in age. Now they're having stand-offs in the yard, so it's going to be interesting who gets to be "top cockerel." At least for now. At least one of the other silkies Jazz was brooded with is male. He's got the biggest wattles I've seen on any of my silkies.

I have a little white pullet that is in need of some weight gain. She brooded chicks and now I need to gain that weight back. I don't particularly want to give her corn, as it will yellow her a bit. Any suggestions to chunk her up a bit?

what do you mean by standard sized silkies? If you are in the US, there are only bantams. If you are overseas, there are bantam and largefowl silkies. Ihve had both largefowl and bantam brahmas with my silkies. They have all gotten along great (except for one largefowl boy who raped all the boys he was not raised with. He went to live elsewhere)
Hi Sonoran Silkies, thanks for your help, yep, actually Im outside the US. What I ment was they are not bantams, but now I know should have said largefowl.

I have this stuff called Farmer's helper ultra kibble. It's high in protein, check it out:http://www.wildbirdsuets.com/foragecakes/kibble.htm
It has corn but it isn't the sole ingredient. You could also try oats, barley, BOSS, and cooked eggs
