Silkie thread!

Quote: Oooh, they do all KINDS of interesting color changes when they are mixed! I have had two almost all yellow ones with just little black spots on their heads turn into fully partridge birds (my mom has those and that's what she tells me). I also had a light grey with dark grey head (blue) turn into a very pretty Blue Partridge boy. The Partridge looking ones now look like Smutty Buff (which is what I wanted). The only ones that stayed even close to their original colors were the Blue and Blacks. The one I had which looked like a very light Partridge (which is what those remind me of, darker outside and lighter backs) ended up being completely white, and so did a silver white one. On this thread I have seen Partridge looking chicks turn out completely Blue as an adult - not even a hint it was a little chipmunks when young.

Those do look like White to me, but you never know... They carry something else or they would be all yellow or white without those darker smudged areas.

Our Fluff. He's sweet, silly and didnt start crowing till about 2 weeks ago. He was born in April. I have 4 roosters the other 3 started crowing in May. Im not sure why he was so delayed but we love him.

So I'm thinking of showing one of my hatchery birds here in November, just for the experience, so I have an idea of what is going on once I get show birds. I don't -think- she has any disqualifiers.. but can someone take a look and let me know?

And of course... I get pics of her feet.. and she stepped in poo... Sigh.

Thanks for the comments chicken mama, nook nook & mandy. I know for sure the rooster is white. The mama could be white, black or grey partridge. I would love for them to be porcelain but I think the colors I have don't compute to porcelain! I have included pictures of three of the possible moms. The other possible mom is all white. The white roo pictured is dad. The other roo is in the in the partridge mamas background. Thanks again.

From that combination I would guess they will be White. Probably from the White hen, but your other birds could be carrying recessive white too. I have a red/black Partridge boy who carries recessive white and one of my hens (Blue/Blue Sizzle or Buff) carries it too because I hatched a White chick from the pairing.

I agree, no genetics in there to create Porcelain, unless those birds are split to Lavender. The Silver Partridge's dad is not Lavender or White, not with the red on his wings, so no genetics clues there.
