Is the foot sticking out at a weird angle or is it under her in the normal position? Are her toes flat or are they curled? Does she walk with a bump or does she hop on one leg? Does she ever put the foot down for stability? How old is she? Have you looked at Mareks Disease and the symptoms from that?

I have one girl right now that looks like she sprained her "knee" and is wobbling around with her leg at a weird angle - so I know they tolerate extreme pain that would put us down in bed for a week. We have also had a young pullet that got jumped on by a very heavy rooster when she was too young and it broke her back. She still walked around - even while healing - but she looked like a camel walking, very bumpy. She lived for about 7 years, always called her "Gimpy". If your girl won't put her leg down, its not because it hurts - there is something else going on.

Ok, I will take a video of her tomorrow. she just doesn't really try and walk. she stands on it, she doesn't balance on one leg. but when she tries to walk, she will put her wing out to catch her balance maybe? it is like she doesn't want to put weight on it. She is 1 year old, beginning of this month she was hatched. she also hasn't laid any eggs in 3 months. I dont' know if that helps or not. But, she doesn't exhibit any other symptoms. Have you palpated her abdomen? She may have layed an internal egg and it's lodged somewhere preventing her from walking right

Icelynn has one right now and she has quite the waddle, but luckily it isn't near her hips and isn't harming her as of yet.

Im hopeing someone here can help answer my question. I have to silkies, I thought they were both black. They have some goldish brown showing through in their hackles mainly but also some on their chest & backs. Are they still black , black with a leakeage of this other color or some other color entirely?

The top one looks like a lemon blue silkie. I've never seen one like that.

I think they are just black with red or gold leakage. Also they're boys

in my opinion at least.

They might be able to be called "Partridge" when they get more gold/brown feathers in, except they are missing the pattern gene. Since there was another Silkie girl who looked like this - I wonder if somebody is breeding Partridges and lost the pattern gene in their selection. They might be useful in a Partridge pen, but only if the girls are very well patterned and you would have to be very selective on who you kept from the crossings. You don't want red in your Blue or Black pens.
