I like the idea of putting all the eggs under mommy to hatch and taking the chicks as they hatch.do you guys think this chick could drown in the water thing I have in there? it isn't very deep, but I just want to make sure it won't drown!

And yes, that chick can drown in that waterer. As long as you keep it really low it might work - but if it fell down or turned upside down in it then it would get cold. Put little gravel in it until the water is below the rocks. The chick will peck at the gravel and learn to drink without getting chilled. I use quail waterers for all my bantam babies because I lost two chicks in a waterer like that. I was using the jar and it had more water in it, but they fell in and got cold and that was it - and one spooked and went in upside down and was gone in about 30 seconds.
excellent! I will do something about it, it is making me nervous.
You can use marbles or those decorative flat round glass things that they use in clear flower vases also. The babies can get water around the in between areas.
