I will try to get pictures tomorrow! I was gone most of the day today - and they stayed buried under mommas when I went to see them!

Here some pictures! I had one hen hatch 4, and two hens hatched 12 together in another box! They are 2 days old! These are babies from my Catdance girls and boys I hatched last spring!

Just wanted to share that it may go easier than you think. I was expecting a rodeo the first
time and quickly discovered they liked it. That little chicken just sort of relaxed and melted in my hand...
It was to sweet... Good Luck with your chicks............

It may have melted in your hands because the water was too hot and it was overheating.

Yeah thanks everyone I am learning also still have a question tho what is a catdance and porcelain Silkie?

Catdance is a breeder. Porcelain is a variety that is not recognized in silkies. There really is not that much variety is a correct porcelain.

Ahhh ok thanks they are so pretty I can safely say the "Silkies" I got are not Silkies or full Silkies they are fluffy and have blue ears but not the body .

they are full silkies, just not the same quality.

Short of DNA testing there is no way of knowing!! I have been raising silkies for 8 years and just when you think you've worked it out on the sex thing, you get it wrong. They can be very feminine by nature and some don't get streamers until you have convinced yourself you have a hen.
So unless you want to pay for DNA testing , you will simply have to wait it out like the rest of us.

I currently have one that I can't figure out, and I've had silkies for over 12 years. This one has gotta be at least 8 or 10 months; maybe more. Pelvic space is as wide and flexible as I have ever seen on a hen, which is much wider than I have ever seen on a boy; body looks feminine; but has streamers; tried putting in a breeding cage with a pair---the cock attacked it. It's in a cage by itself for "study" (egg or crowing)

Some of mine do the same thing. As long as it isn't from getting water up their noses it's fine, some really like it, others prefer the blowdrier =) All my silkies are really good for both the bath and the blow dryer.

Oh boy, are they cute! I love it when the broodies raise them. I can't wait to hatch out babies from mine next year!
