I LIKE his color!  You might have some of that mahogany RED we are looking for... too bad you are over the big pond   That's the color I want on my Partridges - minus the Charcoal moorscap.

Yep, long way to ship eggs. His dad has the colour you are after. Some of the newest chicks show promise.

You are very smart with silkies ChickNmamma! I know I am going to have boys. It's a give in. I really want to find good homes for them. I can't fathom someone buying them for food. They are like puppies to me. Are boy silkies hard to rehome? They are going to be cute. Here are moms and dad...

Are these guys show worthy. They are 100% homemade(that's sounds weird) but I had the silkies and hatched chicks from there eggs. They are 5 months old.

You'd have to wait for a show expert to come along, but this one is a cutie. Is it a hen or cockerel?

Lol what is a hen? I have the same question about winter. I thought since they just have fluff, that like chicks they would get cold. Curious.

I wondered about them in winter, too, but I've read that as long as they stay dry they'll be fine in the winter. We've gotten down into single digits already and my silkies are just going about their business. This is their first winter and they've figured out that when it's windy or snowy, being inside the coop is best. The breed does originate from the Himalayan part of China.

I don't know what to do. I am starting to like my silkies more than my large chickens. But I don't want to get rid of the big ones and I don't have any time to build a new coop. Ahhhh

My large fowl get on quite well with my silkies, that could be because they think they are their mommas.

These Wyandotte are 9 weeks old, won't be long before they are bigger than their silkie surrogate .
