Silkie thread!

If you breed something with a silkie and then breed it back to a silkie and breed that back to a silkie etc how long before you can call it a silkie?
I know other breeds going for a certain colour have bred with other breeds for a certain trait then bred back to pure.

I don't think there's a definitive answer to that, as in, a set number of generations. I think that if you get to the point where it matches the breed standards for a silkie, and breeds true, it is a silkie.

cool! could you post the URL so I can look into posting on it?

So if I am aiming for smooth feathers and blue eggs (which is what I am getting), how far off the breed standard are these girls?

So what do you call these cuties with blue legs and smooth feathers?? :) Do you have any pictures to share? I have a little guy here I am trying to figure out...both parents had silkie feathers. It looks to me like these are coming in normal?!? They sure do keep ya guessing!!
