Silkie thread!

There must have been something in the air. This is my Silkie cross. Either 3/4 Silkie 1/4 d'Uccle or half and half.

Funny how all three chicks look a like.

Received my shipped eggs yesterday, all very well packed and none broken. They will have been resting/sitting for 24 hours tonight to let the air cell settle. Going to put them in the incubator tonight. I am so excited, however very scared, this will be my first attempt at hatching eggs...yikes.

Wish me luck.

Good Grief. The second Egg from the same hen has done the same thing. The baby is still in the egg membrane is all bloody I do believe they are hitting a vessel. I think her eggs are going to have to wait for her to go broody. This is to drama for me.

im sorry! it will happen more often......its ok. :)
hopefully all other eggs will be fine! how many have hatched? what day are you on? the chicks may be bloody of they are too early to hatch.

have you tried assisted hatching? maybe leaving them be will be just as good too......uuughhh the tension!

Best wishes!!!!

Oh no!! Is she still peeping? I don't have incubator experience, but I read that you can get an early hatch with too warm of temps...I wonder if something happened to your thermostat? Come on little baby!! I sure hope she makes it!!

I have been incubating for a few years now. This is just weird. They pipped early then slowly lose strength and die. They never seem strong and die in shell. I opened the first one. Other than a slightly bloody membrane, everything looked good. Including the yolk was gone. My D'anvers still have not pipped. I think late has expired on a few on the one. I will give it one more day.

I only assist enough to make sure they can get air and to tent if they lose moisture. I honestly think they are pipping a vessel. Their mom BruceLee literally sprung from her egg and had to be removed from the bator immediately cause the other chicks half out of eggs were being kicked all over the place. It was a football shaped egg too. One more due on the 1st we shall see.

So . The chick is making swallowing movements. I gave her electrolytes via eyedropper while still in the shell. I figured at this point it can't hurt. Right?

Her belly is opened :(. I may have jumped the gun on incubating. Apparently eggs gotten to cold can develop but at hatch have problems regardless of ideal incubation. The warm up here in Alaska gave me hope for hatching I know some of the eggs were gathered warm so I will keep trying.
