Silkie thread!

Ok guys... Weird thing happened.
I put my two roos together and let them go at it. I then saw the newest was the one to start the fight. So I held him down and let my other roo be dominant and peck him a bit.

now the newest is afraid and stays away. Ichabod doesn't even go after him.

now I have them all together with hens. Everyone's doing their own thing. No fights yet. Keeping eye out.

do you think that's what was needed. To show the younger roo whose .... Alpha? Lol in he pecking order

The best way to introduce two roos that I have found, its neutral territory, just like dogs. Put them in separate areas where they can see each other and give them both treats like scratch or something as a distraction. They may pace a bit, but they will get bored eventually. If they calm down let them sleep together at night and separate them in the daytime. They should eventually form a little bond that way. Hold them both together on your lap, you are bigger than they are. Don't be afraid of them, they are just little aggressive feather dusters. When they chill out and don't care so much about each other in the neutral area, you can re-introduce them to the flock together. There will probably be some sparring, but it shouldn't last long. If they fight badly then it may not be a feasible idea to put them together. This has worked for me. I have 7 roos and they all get along fine. They just need to be worked with. I wouldn't hold them down like that. Let them work it out on their own. He is probably freaked out from getting forced down and pecked.

I understand what your saying. Ichabod my splash roo doesn't go in attack unless roman the partridge comes at him. I see roman always going to him. Ever since me doing that tho. They are all fine.

no fights. He also stopped running from him and looks relaxed.

I wouldn't of done this but I separate them and they can see each other and there face would be bloody from going in the fence. I don't have any plywood to separate so they can't peck each other.

they don't even interact. And are no longer fighting.

I hated to sound like I was being cruel but that was my only option. As my Ichabod isn't fertile I received this room from friend. I can't regime Ichabod as he is one of the best roosters I've had. Friendly wise. And I want some chicks from Lydia as she is 2 and not had any of her own.

sorry about he long rant lol

Question... What color silkies will I get?

My flock consists of 7 chickens. 3 chicks and 4 adults.

I have 1 infertile(maybe .. Maybe not) Ichabod whose Splash roo.

A splash Hen Emery

A blue hen Lydia

A partridge with red in him Roman

so partridges x blue = ?
Partridge x Splash =?

I want to try and regime my two white chicks. Its harder to regime white chicks. Everyone likes colorful ones.

here is a vid of them. Easier than posting a bunch of photos lol
