Silkie thread!

We all live and learn. I bought a bantam Columbian Wyandotte from a registered breeder. He was sold to me as a hen and when I took him out of the box I was shocked by his twisted feet. Everyone said take it back, but I didn't have the heart to, I knew that the breeder would have wrung his neck. Him and his brother are such lovely little fellows, they call out to the flock , ' her she comes ' every time they see me. His feet aren't at all pretty but he gets around as well as the others. The lessons learnt are , always inspect the bird yourself and don't just assume that just because you are always honest to others that they will be honest to you. Buyer beware!!!

This is Diablo. I know he's not a Silkie but he is the proud daddy of a ' Wilkie ' ( Wyandotte x Silkie )
if he passed his coloration on to a silkie it would be stunning

Aww, he sure is a handsome fellow. I am just sad that all my chicks seemed perfectly healthy and were walking great and everything the day I got them. Honestly, this sounds sad but I have kinda been distancing myself from my lil buff because she's not just limping anymore. I noticed she's lethergic and sleepy to and her tummy isent as full as the others. I am still giving her polyvisol twice a day but havent seen any change. The others seem to have a good appetite and are energetic.

that looks great! Have you gifted out a secondary securing fastener for the lamp? Those clips are amazingly useless and dangerous! I don't know why they even put them on there! Lol.
Thanks! I havent figured out another way to attach it yet. The lamp is brand new and the clamp part seems pretty tough right now. It takes both hands for me to squeeze it open lol. And it has a lil turn piece up at the top that I can tighten if it get loose from me positioning it too much.
What I wound up doing actually right after this is attaching the clamp to the desk thats right next to it so that it faced the lamp perfectly where I wanted it. Oh and thanks for the tip on the bulb. I found the mood lighting passion bulb at lowes :)

I took am old curtain rod (you could use a dowel or something sturdy and small enough to fit through) and placed it through the circular part of the clamp, that way if the clamp slips off (I've had these things for years, bought new ones, etc, and they always find a way to slide off, I think it has to do with the triangular shape of the clamp) the pole will be there to prevent it from falling in, smoothing chick's or starting a fire.

scary! hmm thanks, ill have to think up some ideas. Not sure what else I can do in this particular area and dont think hubby would like the idea of putting holes in the walls to attach dowels, but ill think for a bit and see what I can come up with.

Hi I'm very new to having chickens. I have five Silkkies that are around 7 weeks old. They are growing fast and are very sweet. I'm having a hard time figuring out the sex of the chick's. Maybe you could help me with that.
