Silkie thread!

Hello everyone. I hope you can help me solve a mystery. I had a broody hatch 8 eggs from this pen this weekend:

I have no prior experience with bantams and don't really know quality but I do know these two MF D'Uccle girls and the Silkie boy produced these chicks: They are my aunt's birds, her only bantams and I collected the eggs myself.

So I have 8 darling fluff balls. 4 of them Gold and 4 of them Silver. (It is hard to see the gold one in the pic it is on the left) Am I right in assuming that this is a sex link cross? If so who is who? Someone on the SL thread said that either the boys or the girls would have lighter skin (don't remember now which) but the silvers and the golds all seem to have equally dark grey skin so I am still wondering. Any help would be appreciated. These are the cutest little things. Is there any reason other than being sex linked that the same breed/color combo would hatch out 2 different colors?? Thanks in advance!

Thanks...I was so surprised that they are two different colors. Could it just be a coincidence then that the silver is showing in some and not in others?

Taking all thoughts and opinions on this. I may just have to wait and see what happens but it would be great to know NOW!

Congratulations! I'm too new to this to be of any help with your questions, but you've been a big help with mine and I'm excited for you! Good luck with the rest.

im kinda dissappointed that my 2 adult hens arent laying yet was looking forward to getting some eggs. I know silkies arent the best layers but i was hoping to get some eggs had them for over 3 weeks so they should be settled down from the move

It took my girls 2 months to lay after we got them. They are all different, but Sounds like your girls are like mine were.

I know silkies are extremely hard to sex, but is there any thing on either that looks specifically male or female? I'm also thinking splash for the bottom chick, but I'm not positive. Any ideas about color? Regardless, they're beyond cute!

I love the color of the bottom baby. Both are very sweet!
