This little one keeps me guessing.

When I got him/her as a 3 day old chick I was told she was lavender, when the first feathers came in I thought blue, then splash, now I'm back to blue. What color is this baby?

How old is he/she now? Such a cutie. I could see her going all blue but I could also see the potential for her to become splash lol. Cant tell if the lighter fuzz is actually her baby fuzz. Can you tell if its new growth or not? If its obvious new growth and not baby fuzz then i'd say splash. Cute lil crest coming in to

Silkie help ...Im pretty new to silkies. Have 6 every day lightly splashed Silkies and then bought eggs from across the country.Now have 4 really nice babies from the eggs.I want to take good care of them..

They are in a little run now plenty of room but it has no grass at all. I just dug out a few clumps of grass and dropped in which they are crazily pecking at .Now i wonder did i do the right thing.?. Can some grass or weeds hut them ?I dont use any chemicals on my grass ever. It just comes up with whatever weeds are in it.I live in the country so no neighbors to add chemicals. nearby..Ive also dropped in picked grass weeds and bush leaves for them before
. They are i think 6 to 8 weeks old now

Another question
One egg hatch that said partridge on it. It hatched out with brown and black strips and sort of silver background pretty....but suprisingly to me chick has turned black with a little white around its eyes
Will it have some other color come out later or stay all black.?

Mine are also in a pen that has no grass, around the same age. I pick some for them a few times a day and through it in..they love it! No chemicals on my back yard either. Just make sure you have some gravel/grit for them. They should start liking treats like apples, melons, .. there are so many. Look up treats for chickens here on BYC. Mine also love sunflower seeds..when they get older. BOSS is what you will see how it is called on BYC sites. Black Sunflower Seed.

Hey guys, do any of you know if anybody is selling nice quality hatching eggs? As some of you know,I have my own flock, but it's time to add some new blood. I need eggs from breeder quality/ sq birds. I looked at some of the more well known breeders that I knew of, and no one has eggs right now. Just thought maybe you guys had seen some. I'm in Indiana, so out of country is not an option. If not, maybe throw some names at me of good quality silkie breeders that you know of. Thanks!

Do you guys feed your silkies crumble their whole life or layer pellets? Mine are 9 months and I still have them on crumble because I felt like layer is too bigs. Out of my 5 I have 3 roosters and 2 hens both of which are laying

I was wondering about the same thing. Are layer pellets too big for them?
