I ordered 9 I will probably have "males added" to the order when they come so not really sure what to expect. I am hopping that I dont lose any but I know ill probably lose one or two.

Can a rooster be neutered? I'm loving my rooster but he had crooked beak. I don't want it to be passed down to chicks. Or another procedure? If not I found someone who wants him. I just hate to see him go.

It's called caponizing , not for the faint hearted. I would rehome him or set him up at your place , perhaps with his own hen and eat the eggs.

I have been incubating some eggs and I never candled them bc I didn't want to bother them, so I totally never touched them. (Besides when i put them into the bator) Tuesday it should've been the 19th day so I took out the turner and put the eggs back in. When i put the eggs back in they were all heavy so im assuming they are doing ok. This afternoon it should be the 21st day. I know the eggs (most the eggs) are fertile bc I got then from a friend and they have a lot of Roos. I'm just so nervous. I feel like I should keep turning them but everybody says you need to stop turning on day 18/19.

There isn't anything for you to do now but wait. While you are waiting read up on how to best keep your chicks. This thread covers things like pasty butt and temps for the brooder.

oh geez. That's horrible. Too bad they don't have a med that makes them infertile lol.i guess I could make a breeding pen and a not breeding pen. Just hate to make another area lol

I have 6 silkie eggs on day 21 and only one had pipped. I'm getting nervous and keep trying to convince myself that they will eventually hatch. I know I ran the bator at 99-100* the whole time so they may take a few extra days (I hope that's the case anyway). I just needed to tell somebody that would understand my concern, Thanks Guys!

Hi Dianne, hatching can be a very stressful time. The best advice I can give you is to sit on your hands and resist the temptation to open the bator. The fluctuation in humidity can ruin the rest of the hatch. This link is a great learning tool and will cover most problems that you may encounter.
And give you the tools to know when , how and why it is time to intervene.

I have a ' layer pen ' there are a few mutt roos in there that I just don't have the heart to send off. They are happy in with the girls, I just make sure that the eggs are collected daily or I would be overrun with mutts.
