Silkie thread!

I have a stupid question if you have white hens and a white roo will all chick's hatched be white?

That's not so silly. Yes white / white give you white. I keep my whites and colours separate. You can put all kinds of colour combinations together ( project )
And get some really nice colours but the trick is to get them to breed 'true '. Whenever you mix white with a colour the outcome is unpredictable .

Hi, I'm new here. I'm new to raising chicken. I started building my first chicken coop and it came out really nice for me. My first chickens are Silkie. I drove 60 miles to purchased 5 Silkie babies that are 3 days old. The person had way too many and was desperate in getting rid of his stock. Upon returning them home they did great. Two days passed and they loved my backyard, I monitored them very well until earlier today I went inside the house for 10 minutes, came out and one was missing! I looked all over for it and I'm sad because I found it carried away very far towards the back of my backyard and it's feathered completely plucked off. It has died. Something attacked it. 100% it's not a cat. I've did see a Blue Jay in the yard earlier that day. I suspect he is the culprit. I just returned from the store 9PM with a Airsoft BB Gun and tomorrow I will kill that Blue Jay.

Is this wrong? I was into a new hobby of raising my first chickens and I am deeply sadden by the lost of one of my 5 day old Silkie. I cherished all 5 alot. I even burried the dead Silkie before I went to the store and bought the BB Gun.

Don't feel bad about the air soft gun. I carry a 22 with me to watch over my flock.

I got from the google play store and it is Sound Meter version 1.5.9
It seems to work pretty well, oh and it's free.
There might be a better one, but this is the only one I've tried.
Thank you! Now to see if I can get his crow while I have the app running. I haven't heard him in a few days so he should be due for a good crow soon.

I am really sorry for your loss. Blue Jays seem to be very aggressive-I don't like having them around at all either. Are you silkies in an enclosed space? You may want to consider keeping them inside the coop while they are little and letting them free range when they are older and larger.

Morning seems to be the best time for crowing. As soon as I let them out it's like a contest to see who can outdo the others.
I even had one crow when I picked him up. lol

The large hatcheries usually pack extra chicks in small orders. These extra chicks are usually unwanted hatchery cockerels to be used as packing "peanuts" to keep the regular order of pullets warm during shipment. Hope you have a home for unwanted cockerels and they can be any variety breed the hatchery happens to have on hand - sometimes even rare ones.
Yeah, I think I found someone who will take them.
