Silkie thread!

I'm trying to figure out the sex of my silkies. Will male and female silkies have the turquoise on their cheeks or just the males. I'm am so confused at this point. I am almost ready to give up. I have some that have the beginning of red combs will both males and females have a comb. So far I don't see and waddles although 3 of my whites have big old beards.

This little silkie roo is looking for a new home. located in austin tx

How old is he? Why doesn't he look like mine? Or, why doesn't mine look like yours? Mine is 4 months old.
Up above is a breed standard Silkie. Yours is just a tad off. Red isn't standard in the comb and neither is size. Smaller the better and the darker the better. Wattles look a little big as well. And the crest is thin. The fuller the better for crests.

I found my old 1992 American Bantam Standard and thought folks might be interested in seeing how Silkies have changed over the last couple decades. This used to be considered the perfect ideal for white silkies when I started raising them.

The crest, comb, and foot feathering was less extreme in 1992 and type was different too. The standard in the USA is different than Europe and Australia. I would love to see images from two decades ago in those countries of Silkies then compared to what is being bred and shown now.
