Silkie thread!

OK. This isn't really a Silkie question, but I'm guessing that the most chicken walkers are here.
I'm trying to get my Black sex link used to her harness. I put it on and then she refuses to walk and when she does walk she walks backwards.
The Silkie is too small for the harness at the moment and the other chickens are fine with it. I've put it on her 3 times and about 20 min to an hour at a time. So far there's not much progress. Should I have it on her all day?
She obviously isn't used to the feel of it.
I've tried offering treats too. Any advice?

There are several strains of cocci, not all will present with blood in their poop. Greek yoghurt will also help to reline the stomach wall . If you have a cocci outbreak in your flock you will lose more birds, so best to be on the safe side and treat . Amprolium acts as an analog, it mimics the structure of thiamine thereby inhibiting the coccidia from utilizing it and so starving the parasite. Without thiamine the coccidia is unable to synthesize carbohydrates .
The breed of the bird is not relevant
Thank you Howfunkyisurchicken! I will take a look!

I will get a hold of some greek yogurt. I used to feed that to my chickens as treats but i havent lately. I will make sure to get some. The little d'uccle i was keeping an eye is looking better. Her tail stands up more now. I gave her some drops of nutri-drench a while ago and it seemed like that helped. Where can i get amprolium?

Depends where in the world you are . In the states it's corid, or amprol -28 .

May I suggest sometime down the road that you replace the open nests with lidded storage bins or a couple covered cat litter boxes?  Hens love hiding during their egg-laying.  My DH and I often have looked at these storage containers and thought they'd make nice little coops raised up on cinderblocks a little to keep off the ground on rainy days.  Excellent idea to put a secure kennel around it!  A row of paver stones around the outside base of the kennel will secure against any digging critters - loose dogs are the worst diggers!  With chainlink you may still get rat visits but the larger critters will have a hard time entering the pen - especially once a paver walkway is laid.
Thanks I like the idea of the cat boxes! And yes I plan on using pavers around the kennel too

I have no idea on the subject of chicken harness, but I know with my little pig that I'm trying to teach to walk with a harness & leash, it was suggested to leave it on her all day so she adjusts to the feel. I would LOVE to see a pic of a chicken in a harness!!! I've never heard of such a thing!! :)
