Silkie thread!

Does anybody have any ideas about my Silkie? Boy or girl?? The pictures are a few posts behind.

I'm no expert, but it looks like a pullet to me.

My very first hatch took 23-25 days for the chicks to hatch. I was freaking out the entire time. If you candled them just before lockdown and they were viable then patience is your best course. (I'm assuming you're not having any humidity or temperature issues.) If it were me and nothing had happened by day 25, I'd be candling eggs again...but patience has never been one of my virtues.

I've got 41 eggs in my incubator right now!!!

I am so excited to see what comes out because they are cross breeds!

what were the breed parents? silkie and what? i love to see the cross breeds. will need lots of photos!

Here's one of my silkie hens. The second pic is of her and a chick that I put her with. The funny thing is I put her with the chick when it was fully feathered and a few months old and the silkie hen took the chick in as her own. The hen protects the chick from other chickens and makes the noise that roosters and mother hens make when they find food.

There has been a lot of advice on hatching, raising, care, feeding, illness, etc. A lot of posted/linked references to other helpful websites will be included in a lot of ppl's posts too. Take it slow a few pages to read at a time. There are a lot of cute pix along the way too.
