Silkie thread!

I ended up trimming below their you know what. The poo would just build and build. The other thing that helped was a 4x4 on the ground to roost on. It kept their butt off the ground. Silkies stay a lot cleaner on sand. I live on sand and never had to bathe one.

Just one bite, huh!

Thanks for that 4x4 idea!

I am hatching some more eggs from a great breeder near me and I was surprised at the size of the eggs. Half of them are quite large... decent size chicken eggs. I have only gotten smaller eggs from her before so I am wondering if different colors will hatch out!

Silkies are strictly for cuteness. I have some that are coming up on 5 months old. My hatch is 7 boys and 3 girls. Aside from male hair pulling, so far so good. I hope they all accept their lot in life so that they can stay together.. I do love the roos.
What do you do with the roos? Do they fight each other like other breeds? I got 2 silkies in their own coop (with an EE). One I believe is a rooster. I got the silkies to be my broody chicken in hopes of them hatching our spring barnyard mixes. Will I be okay with the roo hanging around in the coop? The one I believe to be a roo has a very different comb. It's bigger and very bumpy (looks like 3 rows of pea comb) at 15-16 weeks old. The other one still has a flat like pea comb (or I guess they are walnut combs?).

Some silkie roosters fight some don't it really depends on the specific rooster

Just got this silkie mix. I think she's a silkie bantam and a BO mix? Or something like that anyways. So EXCITED!!! :D

Any ideas on names? I was thinking Becky for Rebecca, but I'd like to hear others thoughts :)

Posting a few more pics of my babies. They're growing up. Here are a few of them taken today at 7 weeks old.

I think this one is a pullet.

Almost positive this sweetie is a pullet. I love her!

Posting a pic of tamar too just cause she's a cutie lol. I think she's my favorite of the bunch. She won't let me take a picture of anyone other than her when they're all together lol
