My two Silkie hens with there 6 chick's

Lol thanks. That white one is named terminator. It was the smallest egg almost quail egg sized and he was also the first to hatch. He's definatlely one of my favs.

Here's my little roo named Ducky. He's so sweet to the girls, he spends more time giving them gifts of twigs and leaves than he does trying to mount them. He wears a no crow collar and tolerates it very well and he's almost completely silent with it on except for his little cluck clucks when he woos the girls. I never would have had a rooster if I wasn't given one by mistake in a sexed batch of chicks and I'm very happy that he's my first, he's been a pleasure to have.

LOL yeah I've had some that think twigs are a huge prize and make a big fuss for the girls to come get his twig

What a cutie Duckie is! What brand of crow collar did you buy? I've got a baby silkie roo i'd like to keep if I could keep the noise down. My only half-way close neighbor says he doesn't care at all and the rest are in a subdivision on the other side of the woods/ creek and I expect they'll be okay as long as he's not really loud. But all it takes is one complainer. I'm at the edge of town and techincally not supposed to have roosters but I'm off by myself with woods on three sides and only 1 real neighbor. I have been considering giving a no crow collar a try as soon as he starts crowing. How well does it work for you?.

I made it myself out of 2 sided velcro (the kind you can hook to itself in a loop) and old denim. I just estimated the width and doubled up the denim in that width then sewed on the velcro so it was adjustable. It works fantastic once I got it tight enough and made sure he could eat and it wasn't hurting him. He doesn't mind it at all. He tries to crow once in a great while but it just kind of makes a little gargled sound.
