Silkie thread!

Hey guys- where did you get your silkies from and how are their temperament/quality? I really like silkies, but I want to try other hatcheries, as different lines have different qualities. These are mainly pets, so they don't have to be show quality. Thanks!

Pet's? ohoho you lucky one you. If I knew how to ship chickens, I would ask if you wanted my Buff Silkie Rooster. Scragglly as he is hes very friendly XD unfortunatley idk how to ship chickens XD

I would say for pets, try local feed stores. Thats what I did for my project

What about when school is out?
I may not even get this option ( I've had a recent interested buyer) but If I were keeping him at school, I would take him home over break, or try to sell him again before hand, or I can leave him there, because the back gate to the school is always open ( so studets can care for the livestock that cannot go home (goats, steer, pigs). O' tis the life of a chicken owner XD

Maybe a dumb question, but do Silkie roos have loud crows, quiet crows, or does it vary? Also do they easily breed with regular sized chickens?

Hehe, have you heard the saying , ' when I have one foot in the grave ' ?

Is there anybody here with Red Silkies? In the Northern California area? I'm looking to use them in a LF sex-linked Silkie project I want to start this spring, but I can't seem to find Reds anywhere. I'd be thrilled to find older pullets/hens but young straight run is fine too.
I have never heard of RED Silkies.

O I c. What school do you go to? If you don't mind my asking?

some are loud some are not. different strokes for different Roo's. And ya wont know till ya hear them.

O wow that's beautiful!! I love the color!!

have never seen anything like that, not even if all the pictures I'v seen. Is that a " show worthy color" ? It sure should be.
Now I want a red partridge!!!!
Not a dumb question at all. I find silkies crow to be on the more ' screechy ' side.

yep I'll go along with that too. My Romeo is not loud but he is screechy.
