Silkie thread!

For Christmas this year the Bantam crew gave me 11 Chicks not sure but so far it looks pretty split cochin / Silkie and Silkie / Silkies. lost one

But 5 are inside and 5 are with Broody. We shall see if any Sizzle or Frizzle.

Should be anytime, they're about 7 months and the days are getting longer. Depends on how far north you are, too this time of year. Are they roosting or sleeping in a nest box?

It took some effort, but I think I got them consistently roosting. Added some lower roost away from the bigger chickens and kept moving them every night.

i set these Saturday.there is a bunch of Silkie eggs,serama eggs,and crele chicken eggs.

I tilled all the winter bedding and stuff in the big run today so I let mama and chicks have first dibs at the worms and other buggies.

I had to train mine to roost, too.

I've still got one(half Creamlegbar and half white leghorn) who will not roost. I think she gets picked on. But only one chicken messing up a nest box is better than a bunch. She usually chooses the same nest box and then nobody lays in that one, so I leave her be.
