Silkie thread!

They identify show quality from their pet quality stock and they offer at cost DNA testing available for guaranteed sex of chicks.  I do not know if they sell hatching eggs.  They are in SoCalif so I don't know that you would want cross-country shipment plus they have juvenile show birds from $125 to $300.  With that amount of money spent I would insist on photos of the bird before purchasing.  Here is their website info if you have further inquiries:

Ya I was hoping for like the farthest from like maybe 10-16 hour radius

That's why I picked Amber Waves Silkies because they are only an hour's drive from me. Keep looking, check the bantam association or Silkie websites and eventually you'll find or get recommendations for a good Silkie breeder in your area. Don't go by a website to determine quality. See what others say about the breeder. I've been stiffed from the looks of beautiful websites - I should've checked references. I've heard excellent to very bad about ebay sellers. GL!

Triple P is in Latrobe, PA
Geri Godina is in the Meadville area
Poultry lane is in Waynesboro
Murano farm is in Boyers
I don't know if they ship. I'm pretty sure they all have websites that you could check out, though. I get all my information on breeders from the American Silkie Bantam Club directory. It's great organization to be apart of and support.

could you tell me what color she is?

How long does it generally take a silkie to become full size? Also what should I look for in a show silkie? I have one that I think is probably a rooster but he's nowhere near show quality but I have another which I was told a while back by some of you guys was also possibly a rooster but I'm thinking/hoping is a hen and might be show quality. The one I am pretty sure is a roo has 9 toes and a straight comb instead of the three row short and fat comb. But the one I'm still not sure about has all 10 toes and has what will be the three rowed short fat comb (if it comes in).

Well, wandered into a feed store and there were silkies with awful pasty butt. I got the 6 with the worst looking butts, so I could give them a shot....since the workers didn't care at all (I brought it up and they blew me off something terrible). I know they're not great quality silkies.....but I couldn't leave them to suffer not being able to poop. So, they'll be pets. Fortunately, we needed more chickens anyway, since only 2 of our 7 four week old buff opringtons appear to be ladies.

Any chance I could get some guesses as to colors? I'm posting 2 pictures of the yellow banded chick, since I love her head spots.
