Oh no sorry to hear that

What age do they start crowing? Mine is 17 weeks old and still clucks

I originally had 9, and 8 ended up being cockerels, you can check them out below.

You can see my only pullet, Tiny, is the only one that looks distinctly different from the rest (rounded crest & tail, posture, little-no wattles/comb, etc). She is now 22 weeks old and just started laying yesterday.

Two of the alpha cockerels started crowing around 12 weeks (approximately when this picture was taken).

Do you have a picture of yours?
This is the one that is crowing. He's almost 12 weeks old.

This is the other one that I'm pretty sure is a roo.

Need advice, please help! I have a small flock of four chickens, only one of them being a silkie. I am new to raising chickens and brought the first three home together at 1 week old. A Black Sex Link, an Isa Brown, and a Buff Orpington.  Approx 7 weeks later, I brought the silkie home and he/she is about one week younger than the rest. (I'm leaning towards a roo but not 100% sure yet) They are 16 and 17 weeks old. At first, when I brought him home, they did very well together (I did introduce them slowly just to make sure) Yesterday I noticed that he was sitting off by himself, instead of toddling around with the rest. I checked the crop and it seems fine. Last night, he slept on the coop floor instead of up on the roost which is something else that not his normal behavior. This morning he ate scrambled eggs and I witnessed a normal poo but he is still not very active. I'm worried that he is either sick or maybe feeling lonely because he doesn't have another silkie friend to hang out with? Should I have gotten 2? I haven't seen any aggression with the other chickens but maybe they're excluding him? I tried to be very descriptive so I apologize for the long post but I'm hoping with as much information as possible, someone might be better able to help. :idunno

It sounds more like a health issue than a socialising problem. I would quarantine the bird and keep a close eye on its poop. Wings down and hiding in the corner are classic signs of trouble. Coccocidiosis , upper respiratory and even an overload of worms are possibilities. I'd be inclined to treat for cocci and take it from there. :)

They are adorable!!! The most recent picture I have is at 14 weeks old and he is 17 weeks now. I will post it and then when I get a chance, I'll take some new ones :)
Cute! Looks like a pullet, body-wise...

If you've got a pullet, you're not too far off! :yiipchick

It does look a bit roo-ish... best post to the Silkie sexing thread for more input!

Yesterday I was very worried that he might be sick but as I've watched him closely all day, I'm feeling much more comfortable that he's not sick. He is active, eating, and pooing fine. He just doesn't hang out with the other three

I am a worry wart though and will continue to watch very closely! I posted in the silkie sexing thread awhile back and didn't get much response

Hen or Roo?? She/he is about 4mths old. I do have another that we are positive is a roo. This one , we were sure was a hen until, what seemed like overnight, she developed wattles. It did start crowing but I've been told a hen will sometimes do that. It has always stayed right with the other hens and the rooster tries to "mate" with it????

Sometimes hens will crow but I have read that a lot of times the only time they will crow is if there is no rooster in the flock because technically the hen is taking over the role of the rooster, even crowing. The wattles do look rather big and even the comb seems to be big, I would say rooster.
