Here are some of my chooks. Varying ages.



Those 2 are from same parents. white roo / partridge mamma. mother was more of a grey colour, unlike the brown partridge offspring. All the ones that were her colour ended up being roo. like 10 roo to 3 females...

Bought this buff with a splash off a breeder as silkie "pullets"... Can't bring myself to relocate them. maybe after they give me buff/splash babies.

I bought the sizzle grown up. was told she is around 2yrs old. has single comb and 4 toes but I like her shape. Here is her chick I incubated.

Hoping its a female. Has more silkie traits... 5 toes, silkie comb. 2nd generation sizzle. Father was a frizzled cochin/silkie cross so it's like 50/50 cochin/silkie as both parents are 1st gen sizzles.

Have more but my photos aren't good.

Have been trying to get all different colour silkie females as well as starting a sizzle project and frizzled polish project from scratch.

Hi everyone.
I posted yesterday in Silkies of a Different Color... but I have noticed that it's not a very active thread.
I have 5 young silkie chicks that I picked up about a month ago while visiting an area upstate. I hadn't been able to find partridge silkies near me, and that was the color I wanted. I requested partridge or blue partridge from the person selling and they told me they only had 5 chicks available at the time, 3 partridge and 2 splash. I decided to take them all because I don't really like brooding only 2-3 babies at a time. Anyway, two of the partridges are possibly silver partridge?, one of them seems to be the standard brown/black,... and one of the two splash chicks is possibly a cuckoo- a very pale cuckoo.

Would any of you mind taking a look over in that thread to see?
Or would you mind if I posted them here as well.

OK... Going to post each color separately to make things a bit easier. and keep the posts from being too long with pics.


#1- Pepsi, about 4weeks. regular partridge.

#2- Pip, approx 6-7 weeks, larger of two silver partridge?

#4-Loulou... my oddball. Feathers around head and face seem to curl forward. Very pale barring.

#5-Shoe. Splash. Just seeing if everyone else thinks it's definitely a boy as well...

All very cute. I think your colour guesses are pretty close, but keep in mind that if the breeder had mixed pens and blue or splash in amongst them , there could be a few versions of splash.
They still have quite a bit of growing to do and some will lighten considerably. Too early to say with any certainty what sex they are. The little barred one is sporting a red comb, that could be an indication of the cuckoo gene .
