I felt bad about locking mine in the coop all day so I let them out (it's rained all day)
They were mud balls.... They just got bathed & blow dried....
I will never ever let them out again in the rain, lesson learned
I've had feather-footed Silkies for years - including feather-footed Breda too - and I don't let them romp in heavy rain. On sprinkly days when it stops raining and there's no mud or slushy soil but hard wet soil, then I might let them out. It all depends on the soil, rain, or wind conditions. I have one Silkie that is smart about staying under cover but the other Silkie and the Breda don't have the good sense to stay out of the mud. Caked mud on feather-feet is not good.
