Silkie thread!

So I have a cull silkie rooster that is the flock rooster for my large fowl. The hens like to play hairdresser with him. Look what they did to his crest (and beard).

At least he likes it. He can see and do his job better.

He was surprised I was quicker than him with the net.

Want to see my normally friendly chickens scatter? Pull out a trout net. They know I'm after someone
That's so funny. Cause every time I grab the net off the hook mine all go running. It's my way of getting them all in for bed at night if they don't go in on their own

I have a white pvc pole that I use for chicken herding. They can see it well and know it just means go in their pen.

Chick, chick, chick is for the large fowl here. Silkie, silkie, silkie is for well the others. They will come running for a treat but I cannot get them back into their pen without actually putting down scratch.

Their pens open to a central courtyard that has a gate. This helps a lot with escape attempts. I take turns letting each pen out there anyway.
