loving this thread so much! we've had quite a few silkies over the last few year.. My BO just went broody and hatched 3 silkies (along with other breeds) on monday.. We got a white, black.. And this little one.. Anyone know what color this chick will likely be?
He looks sort of partridge mixed with white... I am sorry I am late though

Hey guys... help needed! I got tractor supply chicks three weeks ago, and both of them are very scared of me. I have tried to hold them and get them used to me, but it seems to be stressing them out more than helping them.

Chicks go through a stage where they know they are nuggets and everything likes to eat nuggets. Just give them time.

Move slow and offer treats. Soak some crumbles in warm water and offer that. I've found shredded cheese works great.

Some of my Silkies have learned how to get there puffs wet and shake there heads to move there strands in order to see better..

Wait until they figure out how to make mud to use. Urgh! I have two that will dish water out to do that, then beak it into the dirt. Then rub their heads in it.

At least everyone else just uses water occasionally

I am going to pop in and say hi. My kids are showing silkies we bought from a local quality breeder. We bought them as chicks, and are not sure of the exact colors. I know they are non-standard approved, but could use some help. Is this where I post this question?
