I notice my Silkie girls aren’t very active, if I trim crest around eyes they are more alert but you don’t want to do this if your showing. I don’t show but enjoy learning about SOP. From what I have learned from a few of the ABA master Silkie breeders. It takes about 8 months of age to fully be able to judge type and wings. So she has a lot of filling out to do, but looking good. What your looking for crest, body and cushion to make 3 circles. Wings should tuck tight under cushion and high making a smile. Pull wing out and make sure no split wing. This is only a few things That are judged. If you don’t have the ABA book of standards it is a great investment as it explains a lot on showing that applies to all breeds not just Silkies, as the bird is judged on everything from tip of beak to tip of toes. Two really good groups on Facebook are Silkie breeders chit chat and Silkies pure and simple. The American Silkie Bantam Club also has a website and if you join they have a forum, articles and explanation pictures galore. Here are a couple of my girls that I feel have good type, but since I don’t show it’s just my interpretation not proven.
