So it happened! My big dominant chicken walked into our currently tiny run and nothing happened! She didn't peck anyone, chase any one, nothing. She just walked in talked a bit and ate a lot of food.

Also my little Floof is such interesting colors now that he's bigger. he's like a patchwork quilt!

I have hybrid chicks hatching right now... Silkie feathered ameraucana x silkie. I'm hoping to get to blue egg laying silkies :)

Good luck with that! Whispering Oak Silkies in California has some of the silkies that lay the blue egg's.

I am loving your silkies! I just got my first one. It's white with blue ear feathers.
Is it possible for her to lay blue eggs? I was expecting white but got one small blue one tonight. It could also be from another bird but the silkie was close to it. Perhaps she just abducted it from another :)

Silkies lay light cream colored eggs. There is a breeder Whispering oaks that has the only silkies that lay blue eggs but that is the only time I have ever heard of it.

Whispering Oaks is located in Lakeside, CA. I got hatching egg's from her shipped to me already. Only one hatched out, though.

My experimental hatch was a great success! I got 13 babies from 17 eggs set, 3 of which are show girls. All but 1 look like pure silkie babies, even the ones that hatched from the ameraucana eggs. All will be silkie feathered, split for lavender, and have 1 blue egg gene. I'll get some pictures later on :) I had two pens set up. One pen had a splash silkie roo over two silkie feathered lavender ameraucana hens. The other pen had a silkie feathered lavender ameraucana roo over I think 4 Silkie and two show girl hens. I couldn't have asked for better results. I set the remainder of the eggs this morning and have broodies sitting on some.
