He's a pretty bird. I haven't seen many of those up for sale. I was going to buy the lavender cockeral to but my computer froze. Lol.

I've seen birds on the auction and for sale that say they are frizzled and they look like Priscilla. Some are LF and some are bantam sized. I've seen several breeds that are frizzled like frizzled polish, frizzled oegb's, etc. So, hmmmmm is the word "frizzled" just a description of the feathers? I also understand that it's not wise to put 2 frizzled parents together because it creates brittle feathers in the chicks and one is suppose to be smooth and the other frizzled to get 50% frizzled chicks. Is that right?

Since I have some and plan to breed for more I need to know what the heck i'm doing.

I finally got the pictures uploaded onto imageshack so here they are. The cicks are first and then the parents. The last pic of the 1 chick I would like someones opinion as to what color it may turn out to be. It looks like it has darker spots than others but it is the same color all over and it's lighter than in the picture. I tried and tried to get one that was more accurate but with the lighting it just wouldn't work. Too much light and it turned out white and less it turned out darker. It looks lavender to me but I am no expert.

The hens, this first one doesn't have the gold on her back like the picture looks like. I dont know how that got there. She has white streaks.

On the white hens there is a frizzled silkie, a sizzle, a silkie and I still have to find out exactly what the other is called. Her body isn't as poofy as a silkie but her head is. When I bought the eggs I was told they where sizzles but they turned out all looking different in one way or another. She looks to me like a silkie/polish. None of her eggs made it so she isn't one of the mothers

For a non-silkied breed, the feathers will look like Priscilla's; but other breed characteristics, such as body type, skin colour, etc. will match the breed requirements.

COrrect. You CAN breed two frizzles together, and you will get 50% frizzled, 25% not frizzled and 25% curley, which means that have two copies of the frizzle gene. From a breeding standpoint, that could be good as the one bird will always throw 100% frizzled chicks. But as a general rule, what you stated is probably a bettter plan.

Do the roos hold their tail the same way? I have a litter of silkies and they are about a month old. They really look pretty big for silkies, but anyway, I'm trying to see if I can guess their gender. I notice that some of them have a beginning ridge comb and some have it smooth. Any suggestions on how to tell? Thanks.
