You can separate if you like, hormones will not cool down. This is just part of the mating ritual. We like to call it, the baby chicken dance, around here!

Your girls are laying already???? Ugh, mine from Amy were hatched in MAY!

Got that beat, my Chicks are laying and they are just 5 months! I'm still trying to figure out the sex on a few of them, well somewhere in there is at least 2 pullets, they both dropped eggs today!

Wow April! Your lucky! I hope I'll have eggs soon so I can start hatching ASAP in preparation for fall shows. I also need to get a replacement motor/heating unit for my genesis 1588' mine broke unfortunately

I think the weather is playing a huge role in the laying. I could have swore I saw green grass in some of those pics. My birds are in hibernation up here. I have lots of pullets in the 10-12 month range and nadda here. I'm getting an average of 4 eggs out of 74 silkies and 10 faverolles every day.

hahahaha WOW!! Yess I still have ALOT of green grass! I just picked up one egg and it had no shell. It was like a little rubber ball. I gave them some oyster shells and put in more nests. I put golfballs in the nest and they still dont lay in the boxes lol They are very slow! Im not going to actually start hatching their eggs probably until spring. idk I want to wait until they mature a bit more. Here are ALL of the pictures! I need more opinions on them! lol

MsFuzzyButts, are you in Decatur? Hartsell? I grew up in Decatur and my parent's house is still there, even though I brought them to live with me this year.

I am just slightly outside of both cities actually... Do you remember a little town called Somerville.. That's where I live.
