Keep your parakeets in a separate room with the door closed till your sure all the mites or lice have been killed by the bath. more than likely if one has external parasites they all do, you'll need to clean out all the old bedding in youre coop and either dust with sevin or spray it out making sure to get into all the cracks and the roost real good, then just put in enough bedding for about a week because you'll need to repeat this process again, and also treat your chickens again to make sure you have killed all the bugs that hatched out after the first bathing.. There is various things you can use, but one of my favorites is Epernix pour-on because your getting external and internal parasites with one thing. and since this is a cold time of year it is also nice that you don't have to get any birds wet. Lice are pretty easy to see, they are tanish and the eggs will be in clusters at the end of the feather shaft close to the body, mites on the other hand can be harder but with white silkies not so much because they are blk and would probably stand out pretty good on white feathers.. mites look like very tiny pepper specks.
