Okay, yea, because it was said above that if two copies are present, you will get a white silkie. Hmmm...interesting. So, this same cockeral and a splash had these babies, that I believe to be blues. If they are, then he must have that from a parent also? Or could it also be from one of her parents?

Not sure I'm tracking you on that one lol So the cockerel if a splash when bred to another splash he would make more splash those babies look kinda like a splash to me but hard to tell. Is is possible the hen was really a light blue? The cockerel could pass down his recessive white trait to his offspring but I'm not sure of what the ratio of that would be. I'm not sure if the Andalusian blue gene works like that to randomly present with blues from a splash x splash breeding. I just know that to get a splash you have to have two copies of it.

Not sure that the cockeral is a splash...I was told he was a gray by some people on here.
The mom is definitely a splash. As far as the babies, who are older than that pic now, they look dark but with light gray/bluish undercoat. I should try to get some pictures of them now.

Here is the mom with one of the white babies...not a great picture, but you can tell she is splash

I looked closer and I think I'd call him a silver partridge or a gray idk though! Whatever he is I imagine it's recessive when paired with a splash hence the blue chicks.

I'm so excited she went ahead and let me buy the pullet from her for that price since it was close to the reserve. I also purchased a new white cockerel. Since the hubby is gone I figured I'd have better luck sneaking them in haha! I've got a super cute white cockerel now but he has the same faults as the girls so that's not going to work. When they get to age I'll send you some eggs from the pair for the cost of shipping just to be fair if you're interested since we were so close to each other in bidding the last few seconds.

If i may ask, What were you trying to get?

We were bidding on a white pullet from Aimee at Signature Farm. Gorgeous little girl I ended up still making a deal to get her which excites me sooo much since my white pen really needs a knock out girl in it. I gotta try and sort through the birds I have and figure out who I'm keeping out of the ladies. They are all so sweet and docile since their previous owner obviously hand raised them it's going to be hard!!

Congrats!!! Came home today to a pleasant surprise. My silkie's are starting to pip. So far I have 1 Lav, 1 blk, 1 BBS, and hopefully more by morning. I've been staring at them for hours. Funny little heads on them (two are huge). Ginormous!! (aka enormously giant) CCK

my wife wanted silkies so we went out got 4 hens and a rooster from somewhere else and the rooster is funny he is buff and looks like he has an eyeband on just like a ninja turtle he is hilarious

Well I had 11 eggs under my broody hens, given to me by my friend at Robby's Roost. Only one hatched out (2 were early quitters and the rest weren't fertile). She's a beautiful little splash. I couldn't raise just one baby by herself, right?????? So I called my chicken mentor Christy and asked to "borrow" two more chicks! They are a mystery color....They look a little bit beige, and a little grey, but no stripes. I wonder what they will be?
