! I just say crawl in there and get the eggs. LOL Thank you! I wish they were in better condition though.

It does sometimes until she goes "I don't want to crawl in there! The hens peck me when I get their eggs!" then that is when I go in there. I'm 5'10" so it makes it a bit more difficult but it gets done!

I'm new at this too don't worry we all have to start somewhere right? Just do your best that's all you can do and work on educating yourself not just asking questions but searching this forum and the internet for good sources and taking lots of notes. What I'm doing is keeping track of every detail I can with my birds and their breeding. I ask questions, lots of them when I'm buying eggs or birds that way I know for the furture things I think are important. For example I know my blacks came from Black x black breeding and I know where the blood line originated from. In the future I plan on breeding in pairs or trios so I can keep track of what offspring came from which parents.
Whites should only be bred with other whites technically so don't worry too much about them. Blacks are the same way but many put them in a BBS pen. The problem with breeding blacks with your BBS is said that you'll sacrifice the quality of your blacks also you might end up with some blues that are almost impossible to tell if they are black or blue without breeding them to judge from their offspring. I have some notes on genetics that I got from here from some of the most trusted sources IMHO. They go into a lot more detail than I can even start to cover here. If you can PM me if you're interested that will help me not forget so I can send it on over.
They might help you, I refer to them often.

I don't have a "pure black" line, but I know where the lines that created mine originated.

Mine are in with my BBS & I can definitely tell the difference between blue & black. The breeder I got my original BBS silkies does the same... HatTrick Silkies also does this. Here's a link to HatTrick Silkies Blue Silkie Page.

Splash to Splash will breed true but leads to "wash-out" as well as other problems. Another HatTrick link: Splash Silkies with some great info on what happens when you breed splash to splash.

Not a DQ. THe only think about toes that is a DQ is the incorrect number or duckfoot. It will be a very minor points deduction, and probably will make a difference in placement only if the bird is very near another in quality.

Wryneck, crookneck and stargazing are all common names that can refer to any of a number of problems that cause similar symptoms. It really isn't that different than common names applied to plants: the same common name can refer to unrelated plants, and a single plant can have numerous common names--typically used in different regions.

NO! Calico is NOT partridge. Do not breed together.

Ok, thank you! I have two partridge girls and was looking for a boy when someone told me this. I will keep looking.

No not a DQ I would think as long as you have all five toes present. Depending on how weird and obvious it is you could expect to lose points though.
