I've got a couple porcelains I've had for a year from AmyJo Piehl. I'm going to be selling them soon,.. too many colors and no porcelain cock/cockerel. They're pretty birds, but I've got blue/splash, black, white, buff and lavenders to contend with in silkies. Plate is full!
It's the time of year to clear out the nice but not necessary birds as the babies grow!
Ditto.... I have those 2 'porcelain' girls that I plan on getting rid of too. I don't do AOV's and these are still here. They will be a year old in either June/July. I was going to get pics of them and they refuse to cooperate because they just went broody.
Maybe a bath and a wire cage will get them on their feet again.
Hey ladies anyone that needs to sell some porcelain girlies contact me
My lavender roo is whispering in my ear right now saying he wants his own girlfriends. He's pretty peeved at me that all he gets to do most days is babysit the juvies since he has to share his girls with a black roo and now is not his turn! haha
Another question could someone that breeds partridge tell me if she is blue partridge ? She doesn't have black on her and should she have a darker chest ? Would you use her to breed or show or just have as a pet ? ~~ Tammy

My goodness sakes, you poor woman!! You have a 5 week old? How on earth do you even have your sanity enough right now to get on the computer and actually talk intelligently with us??
I was still out of my mind with sleep deprivation when my son was 5 weeks old. Even when he wasn't crying (which wasn't often lol) I'd still think I heard him crying it was literally ringing in my ears
I've wondered how having another baby would work out with my birds, sounds like you're swinging things a lot better than I would be if you are still hatching and such. I seriously think I'd have to take a long awhile off wowzers! Very lucky you had you're mom to help, I can't even imagine dealing with all my birds pregnant and I have less than 30! Just had to pick my jaw up off the floor and say Hats off to you!!!
Now that I have a small group of nice silkies... I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do next. I want to be able to show a few in October. I have young pullets and cockerels, from a couple months up to maybe close to a year. I'm having a hard time finding info on how to house the chickens I want to condition for showing. Do they have to stay in individual pens/cages? Can a few pullets be housed together? Can cockerels be in with the pullets when they are still pretty young? How much room do they need? I'm not asking for anybody's trade secrets (I hope). Should they be housed completely inside so they aren't subjected to the wind/rain/sun?
With the older pullets and cockerels, at what age do they get paired up? If she isn't laying yet, is it ok to keep pairs together?
I'm in the process of planning my runs. I have a lot of space but no outdoor structures. I utilize dog runs and dog houses as well as rabbit hutches etc.
Are show silkies kept on shavings? Cage wire?
My first batch of shipped eggs are going on lock down tonight. At last check, 27 out of 30 looked promising. Due to hatch on Thursday.
You have to find what works for you. Ask ten people how to do it and you will get ten variations on the same theme. Protect them from sunbleaching. I use shavings.
