HAHA! It would be cool if whoever buys them can keep you updated.

I hope they do! I have some eggs in the bator now on day 7. I have no clue what the lemon blue or brown red chicks look like but my aunt hatched one and it looks like this.

This is it kinda still sticky from hatch it got a bit darker and is feathering in the same color as dad.

:cool:Oh I 've been there -- Your jaw would drop from the amount of money I've spent on eggs -- and the people I've bought them from and the excuses they give . So what color they supposed to be . Then I'll guess who you bought from

~~ I'm sorry really I am -- There are a lot of honest people also -- KARMA will get them in the end ~~~ Tammy
I know it isn't what you want to hear but I must say they are very nice looking chicks from what I see --- nice feathering

My comment on this is if someone has a silkie that doesn't have black skin or the correct number of toes and it selling them as show quality they are a scammer and/or very misinformed. I would NOT buy from them. Not uniform black skin happens more often in project colors is my understanding but in your basic colors you shouldn't be seeing it in anything SQ. You might see someone call a bird that is BQ with not the correct number of toes but since that is a DQ no way that could be a SQ bird. Personally unless said bird with incorrect toes was pretty awesome with everything other quality I wouldn't call them BQ. That's just me though.

I used to think this was always the case,.. but..... Two separate breeders that got birds directly from G. Mihalik ended up with birds with portions of the bottom of the toe being pink. These birds show fine. I used to cull for small 'pigment holes' but don't any longer. Often on the blues they have gone away, but not always. Regardless, haven't been dinged yet. If all else is equal and one bird has a pink spot on the toe, I will keep the one without, but otherwise I don't let it bother me too much. Type is #1

I've heard that about G.M. lines as well but really I guess I was referring to overall skin color not pigment holes in the bottoms of their feet/toes. My blacks are from someone that got his birds directly from Mihalik so I'll be curious to see what sort of offspring I end up with

I bought them as Cuckoo silkie chicks. They said they had a cuckoo roo over three cuckoo hens and 1 blk hen. As babies they looked cuckoo even with the pigment loss pink toes ect...When they began to feather in I could see the cuckoo on the wing feathers but since they have feathered in like this. They look darker in these photos but they honestly look like a dark blue.

Hmmm - Mine were funny colored when they were young - but they carried the barring even as chicks . I only have Taz my Roo left - I'm looking for a home for him if you want to chat email me . ~~~ Tammy
