Actually, I thought thats what they were at first, so everyone got a bath and dip, coop was cleaned out and sevin dust put in, etc. But come to find out, they are mats, I got one off to be sure.

Have to agree with robin on this one~~~feathers in the beard that appear matted are usually lice eggs..... Even if you dip, bathe, and treat the bird, that doesn't remove the lice eggs...the only way to do that is to comb them out

Hello.

I was sent here to post my issue with cross beaked Silkies.
Both of mine are developing it, and it's just happened here recently. I literally took pictures last week and they were fine.. we just noticed the start of the crossing today.

I was planning on giving these Silkies to my little brother for his 12th birthday, which is Wednesday.
I basically need to know what is going to need to happen with them..

I use a short bristled fingernail brush to clean out matted feathers and foot feathering. I shampoo the feathers and rinse them with the brush dipped in clean water. Around the eyes, I use a soft bristled tooth brush because it's easier to control. Both are much gentler than a comb. Works best wet, though.

Sonoran...I am coming to you with 2 genetics questions

I have a trio of Partridge Silkies from SQ parents...all but one are PQ....I hatched some babies and one of them is solid white (see pic) what does this mean as far as breeding this bird later....what would I breed too and etc.

Secondly, from purchased eggs, I got 2 white silkies one is a male with a single comb (I will get pics tomorrow maybe I am seeing it wrong but I do not think so)...how does this happen, what should I do with the bird and will the hatchmate carry the single comb gene? Basically what can you tell me about the single comb in silkies...
