uhm, pennie, I think you mean five month old. LOL

...uhm maybe you have never experienced Premiers birds as I have some whites that at 5-6 weeks looked just like mini grown birds...incredible and thats just using a white Premier cockerel...Pennie has Premier and GM on both sides and they feather out unreal....

Like I was telling someone, this 2nd. hatch turned out better than the first. It's like they're on steroids or something. I walked out to the barn one morning and everyone just had blown up over night.

I keep very good records of my kids so I know who's who and what's what.

weeeeeeellll, crap. I knew they were going to be pet quality, but figured they were silkies. Black skin and everything. I checked a couple of them for the fifth toe and saw then so just grabbed a couple and ended up with one with double thumbnail but 4 toe, and one with 4 toes. Their feathers arent hard like my big girls were at 4 weeks.. they're ragged at the edges and they have a lot of fluff. There was a turken roo and a millie fleur roo at the place where I picked them up, but two silkie roos as well. I guess I am the world's worst chicken buyer, cause I never actually get what I thought I was getting! Live and learn, and end up with pets I guess, lol.

torrelee, i think theyre purty, even if not true silkies, they are silkie light! so look on the bright side, maybe theyll be really hardy, prolific and broody for you.

Oh, I'm still happy with them. They're pretty darn cute, whether they fuzz out or not. I'm going to guess they were crossed with the d'uccle since they appear to be banty sized, and I saw a cross between the turken roo and the silkie hen and she turned out pretty showgirl-y. My boyfriend's buddy is convinced that I'm raising baby crows in my living room for some reason though. He said they didnt look like chickens! I dont have any other banties and its pretty wierd how small they are compared to what my brahma and my muttletts were at 4 weeks.
I'm watching them out the window and they finally figured out that the strawberry I put in their pen is for eating, not walking on!

I did it! After a YEAR, I decided to let my "pet" silkies free range today. Anyway, here are some pictures! They loved it...and I even went inside for a little while!

If they end up being super broodies I may just have to hire them out as foster mommies... no roosters in my little backyard!
