Silkie thread!

Colie <3 :

I wasn't around to help my mom but she was determined. She called me all excited like "I did it! I turned it on and now it's ready!!" Followed by "NOW WHAT?!?" haha!

I talked her thru a lot over the phone. That was really... interesting lol

"Ok mom now right click... what do you mean click what mom? Click the right button. Yes mom on the mouse! Two buttons...click the right one. No mom only once, just click it. No mom don't hold it just click it!"

Not siver laced, I raise silver laced wyandottes and that is not the pattern. Looks to me like a partridge patern on a white background instead of brown. Not sure what that would be called...

My bad!

Ms. Lewis Rich :

Aw, you lost yor Silkies? Did you show?

I didn't lose them all but I had an accident at my house that wiped out most of my adults right before summer started. Then the heat here took a toll and I lost 3 more. I was really proud of my flock and looking forward to starting to show. I'm hoping by next spring I'll be ready again

I've got a really nice group of whites still and a good bunch in my grow out pen so I'm being optimistic!

On another note I'm a little isolated where I live so I'm sure I'll be devising my traveling schemes over the winter as to where to go and how to get there! I have a pullet and a couple white cockerels that are lookers but I don't know of anything close to me coming up this fall.

Ok, I have a silkie that was all black, with lighter color greyish black, he's 5 months, atleast I am certain he's a he, well anyway, he is starting to grow a fringe/ring low around his neck of whiteish... So, would that make him a black partrigde then? I should try and catch him and get a pic, but he's a fast little bugger and runs into the trees! Now that he know's how to climb the chicken ladder, he will not even let me pick him up. Darn teenage years...

How do you know if you have show quality? The lady I got my silkies from said they came from show quality, but I said I had no intentions of doing that, cuz, well, I am too darn busy being Mom and sole provider for my kids and my disabled mom, used to have my dad here to help but he passed in october, so, now I don't have time to do anything but what I do. I just wanted them for my son, he wanted them, but how do I tell? I think they are the best looking balls of fur ever created, but THEY ARE MY CHICKENS so of course I think they are!

Lighter greyish black color on your black to me would indicated your black is really blue

A picture would help but you are probably talking about silver in his hackle (hackle right guys? lol long day my brain doesn't work!) I *think* you probably are right about having a cockerel on your hands. In my experience make sure to keep working with him and handling him even if he doesn't like it. I have a white roo named Rowdy that went from attitude to fiesty chihuahua temper almost overnight from me not being diligent with handling him. Him and I are working things out now but if he thinks he can get away with it he will attack my pant legs or try and nip me. Kinda funny but still not...
