The 2 daughters are definately larger than their mother. She is a small silkie. I really love the color of the pullet but I tend to like color that would be a DQ instead of a SQ. I have another black hen that I had intentions of taking her last year but her color has gotten dull. I'm sure it's due to all the egg laying and broodiness. Next year i'm hoping i'll have better quality. Thats what i'm working towards anyway. It just takes time. It's hard to find any quality around here. I have to get eggs shipped and work with that. I haven't gotten but a few chicks that I kept from shipped eggs all spring and summer and if something didn't get them they died. I have 1 sizzle from a spring and summer of hatching. I'm looking into getting a better white roo for my white pen. My roo is non bearded and I want bearded and this other guy has a fluffier head and good feet. I don't have permission to post pics of somebody elses bird or else I would show you. He's better than mine so thats a plus.
Back to mine... Most of the fluffier birds are small in size where the not so fluffy are larger. My black pullet has broken feathers on her feet and if I plucked them she wouldn't have any so i'm sure that will count against her and her wing feathers seem to be more "frayed" looking than the partridge's. I would love to be able to get a good look of one of ya'all's puff ball silkies. Shoot, I'd love to have them but just to get to have a good look at them and feel their feathers would make my day. To get pictures of every part that the judges look at and what they look for would be great. I hope I get that chance at the show. If there is one like that I know I have no chance against one but at least I will get to have a good look and ask lots of questions. Maybe I can save up my egg money and buy some eggs from somebody's beautiful birds.
