I have a question! I'm looking for a young silkie hen (or two) in my area and I figured I'd check with you all. I'd really like to not pay shipping, which is why I'm asking. I'm in Kansas-- do you all know of anyone that lives here that breeds silkies? And no one that I know of in the Kansas thread has any.

--oh, and I did see white silkies listed on CraigsList, but after reading so many horror stories about people buying diseased birds off of CL, I'm a little wary. They said that they had 2011 hatches. So figured asking you all might be a better option?

TIA!

If you as to find someone close to you & eggs have to be shipped,You will have to pay shipping. If you do buy from someone try to make sure they are NPIP registered meaning their birds are most likely a healthy bird seller.Hope this helped!

It would be great if a BYC member with fantastic Silkies lives near you. Failing that, Silkies on Craigs List aren't automatically disease ridden. I sold a young pair last weekend on Craigs List. Just be careful and ask questions and pay attention to the sellers attention to cleanliness and the conditions in which they keep their birds.
