Silkie thread!

I'm officially playing with silkies.

Got some eggs from kentuckysilkies, and had hatching last weekend! Please pardon the baby overload -

So, help me here. Is this white or buff?

Then, I guess these two are splash?

And these darker ones - partridge? -ish?

That last one, dark/orange, Scruffy, has been bathed three times so far, and gets a little fluffier every time. Poor babes.

I'm so excited with these babies! They hatched Saturday and Sunday, and have been drinking from a little teacandle votive cup with four marbles in it. Yesterday, though, they found the water bottle in the brooder, and they're steady tap-tapping now. I ground up starter crumbles for them, but they keep dustbathing in it - so I gave them a pan of sand, too, which they are now ignoring. Whilst they continue dustbathing in the food.

Little stinkers.

They're all ADORABLE!

Would you guys say this is a purebred Silkie? It hatched from a Silkie egg which was laid in a pen that had 3 Silkie hens, 2 Silkie roos, and a Buttercup roo.

5 nice toes, 5 toe nails, and fluff to the middle toe

For comparison, here are some Buttercup chicks. (The yellowish ones with brown stripes)

I can't decide if it looks like a mix or pure...It has little to no noticeable crest right now, and no puffy cheeks although the possible Silkie parents aren't bearded. If it's pure then it's a partridge, right? The hens were 2 whites & a blue, the roos 1 blue & 1 partridge.

Super adorable pictures!! I think you're right about the partridge. The first one looks white to me. The next two are a mystery?? Love them all!

ChooksChick lives in Larry, KS. She might be able to help you out. I'm not sure where the two towns are in relationship to each other.

yeah, I know her from my Kansas thread- she isn't too far from me. I haven't seen her on in a while. I didn't know she has silkies! I'll ask her, thanks!

She has posted on the silkie thread, so I am only assuming she has silkies.

yeah, I did a search for her and silkies in the google bar here- it shows she has done many silkie auctions. That really helps a lot.

Does anyone have a Silkie with reverse splash coloring? I have 2 white Silkies and 2 blue Silkies. Of the 2 blue, one is turning out very splash-like, and the other is darker blue (almost black or charcoal) with lighter blue markings. The latter one is much smaller than the others, although they are all 7 weeks old.
