Silkie thread!

thanks everyone for the advice. we took a blow dryer to her and dryed her off we will try later to get the rest of the mud off of her once she is not so weak or scared. we have her seperated but she can hear and see the other chicks during the day so maybe she will be stimulated enough to get up and move. she has moved a little and stoped shaking but is not wanting to eat or drink will try to get her to tomorrow. i will keep everyone updated i believe if she or he makes it thru tonight it has a good chance.

ok just a little update my children finally went to bed so i was able to take more time to look at the chick without the kids getting upset i missed a bad wound on the back of the neck the skin is missing and there is a huge knot that looks like muscle and swollen blood vessels. it is a nice knot on the back of its neck. can it survive something like this with that much skin missing and the knot on its neck. is there anything i can do for it. it moves its head a little but still not up walking eating or drinking. do you think i should just put it out of its mysery so it does not suffer no more. do you think it will survive from that on its neck. and if so what kind of life will it have

I have seen several of my chickens and pigeons survive terrible wounds and lead full lives. Somehow we have an internal instinct that tells us we "must" end it for them. If you do not feel that way then I suggest you wait a while.
