Silkie thread!

I love my Silkies and Silkie-Xs! I didn't think I would, but I tried them, and it's like M&Ms....

Just becreful when buying chickens from other people and remember to keep them separate from your current flock so that they don't catch any diseases. Hubby had to cull two silkies I just got because they were sick and I didt want to risk getting the rest of my flock sick

There's a great auction on this site, but if you can't afford shipped birds, try Craigslist or put a wanted add up in all your local feed stores.

I did a lot of googling to find close breeders. It didn't help me but might help you.

Wow! Beautiful color. My blues were not that evenly colored at that age but I've only raised three! They look almost look lavender. Do you know the color of the parents, etc. I shouldn't even be commenting as I know nothing from personal experience, only what I read and see on here.

They actually did come from Lavender parents. There was Black/lav Roo and lavender Hen.

Those appear to be lavender silkies. The best way to check is on their wing feather shafts. Look and see if the shaft is purplish in color. That is the only way I can tell my splash from my lav orp's. I'm guess it would be similar for any Lav Genetic colored bird

You probably know there is a silkie lavender thread. You might try posting on there.

I was just looking at a site about telling Lavender from Blue; it says to examine the outside and inside of a tail feather. On lavenders, the outer part of the quill is light and the inside is dark. I plan to examine several of my Silkie-Xs and check their tail and wing feathers. I believe I have porcelains as well... The base color is lavender with an overlay of gold/buff on the body and upper wing feathers. I'm going outside with the camera now!
