Silkies can get this big?! WOW!

Haha hes not that big hes all fluff....so sorry to the poster who lost their birds to a hawk its just terrible ...we cant free range anything here as we are on a hill and the raptors will just pick them off...love the pic of the Aimee blacks they are so nice, enjoy them.

I wondered who if anyone is going to the Northeastern Poultry Congress in January.

It seems I will be needing for sure a buff rooster and a partridge rooster. I think my silver partridge is a girl, but not sure yet. Also, my calico chick looks like a pullet as well.
If anyone is going & has these boys to sell, give me a hollar!
I am definitely looking for the buff & partridge. Don't know what else I could breed the calico to to make another one.

How funny is this?! My daughter just received a ribbon and letter in the mail from the American Bantam Assoc. informing her that she won Reserve Champion Bantam at the Little Rhody Show last Spring. We had no idea! It was our very first show and, apparently, we were clueless. Haha.

I just got this little cockerel yesterday. He is supposed to be 4 months old, but he's doing an awful lot of crowing! Is that normal for his age? I don't know a whole lot about silkies, we are learning! Also, he has these waxy tubes covering the feathers on his head, and when you break them up or pull them off, the feathers come out nice and fluffy. Does that work out on it's own as he grows, or does he need to be washed? I was thinking of washing him in the next few days... tell me if this is wrong-- wash him in the sink with a gentle sprayer and mild dish soap? Then blow dry?? I may just leave him alone for now. He's really calm and very sweet, we're in love!
