Thank you all for the advice! His crest is a mass of those waxy tubes, and it looks like he might really fill out once they come off. I'd never have guessed a flea and tick shampoo- but that is a great idea! I think I will leave him be for now. The picture I posted- he was a bit droopy from his trip and today he's much perkier and is holding his tail up and looking much happier. He LOVES to crow! He's in my garage right now under a heat lamp while we wait to introduce him to everyone else. I think he crowed off and on all last night and I hear him crowing now. It's not too loud- sort of a strangled crow. He immediately just goes right to sleep when I pick him up and pet him and he relaxes and seems really happy so far. He is clicking his beak at times-- is that a boy thing?? When he wakes up and looks around (while I'm holding him) he makes a clicking noise with his beak? I don't know how else to describe it?? It seems like such a stupid question, but none of my other birds do that.
