Silkie thread!

hey everyone i have a 4 week old buff silkie chick that i think is starting to get wry neck it sometimes walks with its head sideways since its just starting is there something i can do to prevent it from getting worse or even cureing it

Give it Vitamin E with its food. Mine has the same problem and my boy is doing much better after a few days of it.

1 little one didnt make it. I did everything I could. RIP little chickie!!!

Now for the other one that is not feeling well. I think Ive got his pasty butt issues controlled, but he is looking like he is starting to get splay leg.

Any tips on how to nip this in the bud? Its making him wobbly. But he still drinks and eats. Would really like to save this one!!!

if hes got spraddle leg do the band aid trick or u could put shelfing cloth in there that has grip thats what i do works great in couple days they get stronger and can walk

Some people believe it's caused by diet (maybe most people). I don't think it's that common in silkies but I could be wrong. Here's a link that shows the treatment.

Oh Oh, I was wondering if that may be what my little one has. It's right wing is tipped up and out. So, thinking it may be young enough to take care of now? I do have that type of wrap. Smaller than that even. So, will give this a try. Not sure I saw how long you keep it on?
Ok, went back and found it..7 to 10 days for a duck. Thinking a week for this little one.

For splayed leg, I actually use electrical tape. It works so well! It sticks just right, and it comes off easier than some other things. I've tried band aids before, but I can't seem to keep them on. Now, Silkies, have those little hairy legs..lol..soo, Have to wrap the tape, then put more tape on top of that. Haven't done a Silkie, but have done this for a cochin. Makes it thicker, and they can't get it off as easy. I usually only have to keep it on for one day.
That's what I do. I know a lot of folks have their ways that work well too. :)
