Silkie thread!

The woman I got them had two pair of white silkies and the hens did not have feathers on their feet, I was kind of disappointed to see that. I think these guys are going to be barefooted as well. :-( I'd really like to get my hands on a really nice silkie chick, or maybe I'll buy an older nicer one if I go to any of the upcoming shows in NY.

Barefooted or not, they're very pretty.

You know that I made myself a book through Shutterfly.com, a little photography book. I do a lot of photography as a side job. So of course my Silkies had two pages worth of pictures in the book! lol With that said, printing and hanging your silkie pictures around the house doesn't sound crazy at all!

Ok, I was working on some pictures today. Trying to get pictures of the hens sitting on their eggs to build a photo book for my co-workers son. Hatching the silkie eggs is a school project for him.
Anyway, dear Curly thought he should have his picture taken too. This picture cracks me up! I had to share it with someone and I figured there are people here who will know how to appreciate this shot.

And this is one of my hens, Marble. She is not quite a year yet. From my first silkies and the first batch of silkies I ever hatched. It is SO exciting to see her sitting on eggs and doing such a fine job. I have seen her and her mother running into the coop and fighting over who gets to sit on the eggs.

Marble seems to win that race most of the time.
I can't wait for these eggs to hatch!! Counting days!

Oh, chickens are so facinating. I never knew how much fun they were until I got my silkies. Even my boyfriends finds them interesting but he still thinks I'm a little nutty when I bring them in the house for baths or pictures and all this other stuff. lol One day, he will see the light!

O' i'm sure he already does... he's just keeping it from you cause then you could say "I TOLD YOU SO

" it took my husband a little bit to admit it at first i think it wasn't until our henny started laying and when we got our first silkie... then he was like WOW no more dogs just chickens for us in the future lol

Yeah, sounds about right. lol I'd rather have a ton of chickens than a ton of dogs.
